Lia and Piera's Blog during the race

Team GFK 2008-Piera Damonte

Congratulations to Piera for coming in 107th among the 200+ competitors in RacingThePlanet: Gobi March 2008. This was Piera's second expedition stage length race.

Piera is a Berkeley, California native who can't seem to stay away from the desert environs. While she regularly paddles the deserts of Utah, she has also adventure raced the deserts of Arizona, and recently mountain biked the deserts of Wyoming and New Mexico. While she does not consider herself a runner, she looks forward to experiencing the biggest desert of all on foot.

Team GFK 2008-Lia Farley

Congratulations to Lia for winning 1st in the women's division, and ranking 8th overall in RacingThePlanet: Gobi March 2008. This was Lia's second expedition stage length race.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Lia Farley learned the meaning of athletic challenge at an early age. Roller skating down the steep Steiner St. hills and sprinting down Baker Beach after seagull-stolen lunch bags easily paved the way for her future of adventure racing, distance trail running, and two-time mountain biking across the US.

Team GFK 2008-Honorary Team Member: Joe Osha

Joe is an Oakland, CA native living and working in Hong Kong. We met him during the race, and he made a generous contribution to Good For Kids; winning the right to carry the Good For Kids Blue Runner foam icon, which he got to race with in the last three stages. Thank you Joe for your inspiration and support!

Team GFK 2008-Nicholas Wickes

Congratulations to Nicholas for coming in 38th among the 200+ competitors in RacingThePlanet: Gobi March 2008. This was Nicholas' fifth expedition stage length race. Nicholas hails from San Francisco, California where the trails and beaches help him stay in touch with the outdoors and his sanity. Having completed a few expedition length races in Costa Rica, Chile, and Morocco (MDS 2003), he's excited to explore the Gobi desert. Team Good For Kids gives him a good excuse to mix work and pleasure and build support for Good For Kids programs and scholarships.
