In May 2009, Team Good For Kids competed in the RacingThePlanet: Namibia. Once again, Lia Farley and Nicholas Wickes came home with top rankings, while raising support for Good For Kids scholarships and programs.
Team GFK 2009-Lia Farley

Congratulations to Lia for winning 2nd in the women’s division, and ranking 5th overall in RacingThePlanet: Namibia 2009. This was Lia’s third expedition stage length race.
Lia has completed expedition length races in Morocco (MDS 2003), China, and now, the Namib Desert. Born and raised in San Francisco, Lia Farley learned the meaning of athletic challenge at an early age. Roller skating down the steep Steiner St. hills and sprinting down Baker Beach after seagull-stolen lunch bags easily paved the way for her future of adventure racing, distance trail running, and two-time mountain biking across the US.
Congratulations to Nicholas for coming in 32nd among the 200+ competitors in RacingThePlanet: Namibia 2009. This was Nicholas’ sixth expedition stage length race.
Nicholas hails from San Francisco, California where the trails and beaches help him stay in touch with the outdoors and his sanity. He has competed in expedition length races in Costa Rica, Chile, Morocco (MDS 2003), China, and the Namib Desert. Team Good For Kids gives him a good excuse to mix work and pleasure and build support for Good for Kids programs and scholarships.
