After 12 weeks of coaching, let’s give it up for our Fall 2007 Coaching Graduates! Kids and coaches, keep up the good work!

On December 15th, 2007 Good for Kids held it's 3rd Scholarship Graduation in San Francisco. 50 guests attended an energized and fun filled afternoon to recognize 7 very talented and driven boys and girls. Parents, GFK supporters, and community leaders gathered at the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco’s Columbia Park Clubhouse to see what today’s youth are doing to stay active and improve their lives. Coaches and students co-presented the core skills they worked on over 12 weeks and answered audience questions about GFK’s selection process and Camp Scholarships. Following lunch, provided by Lime Tree based in San Francisco’s Sunset district, the graduates wowed guests with exhibits of their new skills and confidence. Congratulations to the following students for their hard work and commitment. We look forward to working with you through Good for Kids Advisory Services. Keep it up!

Fundraising

This summer we could double our Camp and Coaching Scholarships…Please help us make this happen. Click here to donate now.

Spring is upon us and as 7th and 8th graders decide what they want to do this summer many of them want a break from the harsh realities of inner city life but can’t afford to go to summer camp. Most of us remember how summer presented endless opportunities to explore the world and choose when and where we would discover new skills and potential. This summer, some of the kids in our communities will have more activities and fun things to do then they have hours in the day to do them. Others will have a lot fewer options and may never be in the right place at the right time to discover their strengths and potential.

Starting in July, Good for Kids will offer it’s Camp Scholarships to 19 additional youth services organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are proud of our continued partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Francisco and, with their support, we will extend the opportunity to 100s more kids.

Please help us send more kids to camp and award more Coaching Scholarships by contributing at the following levels ($4500- Summer Intern; $1200- A 1-on-1 Coaching Scholarship; $600- Half a 1-on-1 Coaching Scholarship; $100- One week of 1-on-1 Coaching Scholarship; $60- One Camp Scholarship). You can donate any amount securely by clicking here or sending your check to:

Team Good for Kids head to China’s Gobi desert to Raise Awareness and Support for Good for Kids Scholarships.

It’s happening again! Team GFK returns to the sand in 2008, this time running in the Gobi Desert to raise support and awareness for Good For Kids scholarships and programs.

After an exciting inaugural run across the Sahara Desert in 2007 with a phenomenal fundraising result of over $41,000 in donations, they have decided to strap the packs back on, don the foam cut-out logos & keep running! Training has already commenced for another 150 miles of sand and mountains, this time skirting the borders of Kyrgyzstan and Tagykistan in northeastern China for the Gobi March 2008.

Your generous donations from last year allowed the Good for Kids' Camp and Coaching Scholarships to more than triple from the previous year. With your continued support Good For Kids can continue to develop the potential of kids from low-ncome families; improving both their lives and their communities. Please click here and support them once again in this great cause and campaign!
