Kate Glass, Development Manager

Kate Glass has worked in development and operations for youth-oriented non-profits for over 10 years. She brings a wealth of experience to Good For Kids, having served most recently as a Development Manager for the Center for Early Intervention on Deafness in Berkeley, and before that as Senior Director of Operations for Junior Achievement of the Bay Area. Her background has allowed her to attain a range of organizational knowledge, from marketing and public relations, to board management, event planning, and grant writing and development. Kate, a Bay Area native with a degree in Communications Studies, is passionate about education and creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth. She is also passionate about spending time with her daughter Sonia and her husband Dan, and camping, surfing, and spending time in the out-of-doors with family.

 

Anna Hernandez, Organization Development and Marketing Manager

Anna has held Operations and Marketing positions since graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with a BA in Psychology. She has worked with authors, coaches, interior design firms, consumer product companies and advertising agencies in 10 years. In 2008, she earned a Master of Science in Organization Development from the University of San Francisco, and continues to support start up and not-for-profit companies with their operations and marketing needs. 

 

Susan Lynn Smith, Program Manager

Susan Lynn Smith brings her extensive background in education and the arts to the position of Program Manager at Good For Kids. Originally from the East Coast, Susan began working with Good For Kids as an art coach in the fall of 2008. Susan’s professional experience includes work as a freelance photographer, an art gallery associate, and an art instructor at programs such as Putney Student Travel’s Excel Amherst College and Excel Spain, as well as the Oxbow School in Napa, CA. Susan holds an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and a BFA from New York University. Her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions throughout the United States.  She is currently pursuing an AA in Spanish at City College San Francisco and is the Artist-in-Residence at RayKo Photo Center.

 

Nicholas Wickes, Executive Director

Nicholas Wickes is the founder and principle consultant for Tracebase Solution, LLC, a San Francisco based software quality consulting firm. In January 2006, he founded Good For Kids with Jessie Simms and Joyce Taira. Outside of work Nicholas is a certified ski instructor and tennis instructor for Tennis for Kids, a San Francsico based youth development non-profit. He serves on the board of Tennis for Kids and works closely with other local arts and sports organizations. Nicholas is a graduate of Vanderbilt University.

 

Coaches

Coaches are contracted for each scholarship session and are selected from a pool of local arts and sports professionals with experience in youth education.
